Tour/Staff Golf Bags

The Tour/Staff bags are the biggest of all the golf bags. These are the ones you will see on TV that the pros are using with the manufactures name on them. The Tour/Staff bags are normally made of leather and are the most expensive type of golf bag. The Tour/Staff golf bags are definitely designed for the golfer who prefers to prepared for all situations you might encounter on the golf course. Most Tour/Staff bags have many pockets for the normal golf accessories such as balls, tees, gloves, pencils, score cards, and so on. Where the Tour/Staff bags really shine are the huge pockets that you can virtually store anything you would ever need on the golf course. You would most likely need a golf cart or a pull cart to get around the course with a Tour/Staff bag.

Cart Golf Bags

Cart golf bags are the more traditional bags. Cart bags can be made of Leather or Nylon in most cases. Cart bags get their name from carrying the bag on a golf cart. The cart bags are very versatile in that you can use them in many different ways. You can use the cart bag on a golf cart, pull cart, carry the bag or even buy a stand and use it with a stand as you carry. You can purchase some really comfortable carry straps for the heavier cart bags. Carts bags are big enough to carry all the clubs you will ever need in your golf bag. Cart bags are normally quite a bit less expensive than the Tour/Staff Bags.

Stand/Carry Golf Bags

The Stand/Carry bags are always very light weight and very easy to carry. They obviously get their name from purpose of these bags. They are made to be carried and they have a stand that will fold out when you go to place the bag down. This is a huge advantage over the Cart or Tour/Staff bags where you would have to place the bag on the ground when you are hitting. The stand on these bags keeps the bag upright for easy access to your clubs and pockets. This is the bag for the player who likes to carry their bag. The Stand/Carry golf bags normally are the cheapest type of golf bag, but not always.

: Perfect to be carried.
: Light weight.
: Inexpensive.

Stand/Carry Bags Disadvantages
: Durability.
: Storage can be an issue.

My preference in golf bags are the bigger Tour/Staff Bags. I grew up in the unpredictable weather of Northeast Ohio where the weather can be so very different from day to day. I like to carry clothing for all types of weather conditions in my bag at all times. If you would look in my golf bag you would always find a good winter hat, a couple of sweaters, cold weather golf gloves, golf hats for the summer, along with the normal golf accessories. Most golf bags just don’t have the room to carry all this without putting too much pressure on the bag. Another reason and very important reason to me is the room inside the bag to insert as many tubes as you need to protect every golf club in your bag. My bag is neatly arranged by golf tubes, which allow each club to be stored by them self inside one bag. You simply will not damage your clubs with the tubes, at least while they are in your bag. I also have head covers for each iron and all woods. I personally like the appearance and durability of the bigger tour/staff golf bags. I don’t carry my bag, so the size does not hurt my golf game, but I feel I have all the right equipment available at my side and yes being comfortable in all weather conditions is very important to your performance.

Golf Bag Accessories

Your golf bag has many purposes available when you are on the golf course. The obvious reason is to carry your clubs, balls, tees, gloves and other small golf accessories. I want to look at some of the other accessories that are available for your golf bag. There are many accessories available so let’s look at them and the purpose for them.

Golf Umbrellas
The Golf Umbrella can be an important accessory to your golf equipment. There are 2 main purposes for your umbrella. First and most obvious purpose is to keep you as dry as possible when it does start to rain. The second purpose might be more important than the first, which is to keep your equipment dry. Even with an umbrella you must still hit the ball in the rain. But your umbrella should always be covering your equipment. It is actually more important to keep your equipment dry and you wet rather than the other way around. Make sure your golf bag does have a place for an umbrella to hook on or you will have to keep your umbrella inside the bag with your clubs. This is something to consider if you are looking to purchase a new golf bag.

Golf Towels
Your golf towels are another very important accessory needed while you are playing. The golf towel simply clips to any steel part of your golf bag so you can have as many clipped on as you like. The golf towel has many purposes. Keep your hands dry before hitting your shot. Keep your grips clean and dry again used just prior to hitting your shot. You should wipe your club off after every shot with your towel, especially with your irons which can build up dirt and mud in your grooves which can cause less spin for your ball. These are a few uses for the towel but I am sure you will find more and you just never know when you are going to need a towel on the golf course.

Travel Golf Bags and Covers
The travel golf bags and covers are basically the same but also different at the same time. The Travel Golf Bags are normally a hard case that completely covers your golf bag with all your clubs and shoes inside. This is the ideal way to travel and carry your golf equipment all in one protective case. This is simply a must if you want to guarantee your clubs safety if traveling by air. The Golf Bag Covers also completely over your golf bag and shoes but the cover is not a hard protective case. This is ideal for travel by car when only you will be handling your equipment. There is quite a difference in price between the two, but when you need to protect your clubs, you need the right equipment.
