Golf Driver Information !!!

Google
  Web World of Golf Handicap

The golf driver can be such an important part of your golf game. Most holes you play, the driver will either start you and your confidence off in the right direction or have you scrambling the rest of the hole to recover. Having the right driver for you is the key to this whole process.

The driver is one of the most experimented clubs in the game. We would like to give you all the information on drivers so you don’t find yourself buying and experimenting driver after driver until you finally find the right combination for you. We want to break the golf driver up into the 6 main components that define the golf driver. Give you all the information you need so you can understand how each area will affect your golf game. Once you understand how the golf driver is designed and how each design affects your game then you should be ready to make the RIGHT DECISION for yourself.

How do you decide which Golf Driver to buy ?

The way you decide is by learning as much about the make-up of the golf driver and how each area can affect your game. Once you have the information then you are ready to find the right golf driver for you. Use this knowledge and experiment by hitting different types of golf drivers and all the components of the golf driver and see how they affect the way you hit your drives. I’m so sure you will find that the shaft will have the most influence on how you hit your drives. The shaft is probably the most overlooked parts of your golf driver but one of the components that will determine how you hit your drives. So let’s look at the components of the golf driver and how they will affect your drives so you can make the RIGHT DECISION for you.

Shaft

I started with the shaft because I feel this is the single most important component of your golf driver. There are 2 main types of shafts available for your golf driver, the Steel Shaft and the Graphite Shaft. The main difference between Steel and Graphite is the weight. Steel is heavier than Graphite which will cause a slightly slower golf swing. Steel is fine for everyone, but Graphite will give every player of all levels that slightly quicker swing speed allowing for more power at impact and longer drives. Steel is normally used over Graphite when you are looking for more control on your drives. So if you are satisfied with your current distance of your drives but need more control, then give steel a try.

Shaft Flex

The shaft flex is the part of the shaft that will have the most influence on your drives. Steel or Graphite is important, but the right flex of your shaft will decide on how consistent you drive the ball. The flex of your driver shaft is referring to how much the shaft will bend during your golf swing. The speed of your golf swing will determine how much or how little flex you need. The faster you swing the club the less flex you need. Or the slower you swing the club the more flex you need.

To Much Flex :
You will find your drives hooking more often than you wish or can control.

Not Enough Flex : (To Stiff)
You will find your drives constantly slicing, even when you have made solid contact.

The flex of your golf driver shaft is so very important to how well you consistently hit your drives. The flex will influence a Graphite shaft more than a Steel shaft. Experiment and find out which shaft flex is best for you.

Shaft Length

Choosing your golf driver shaft length will be the last deciding factor in finding the right shaft for your golf driver. There are 3 basic lengths of shafts for golf drivers. Standard, Mid-Size, and Long. The biggest reason for different lengths for your golf driver is for distance. The longer the shaft on your golf driver then the speed of your clubhead will increase which will give you the potential for a longer drives. Of course there is a disadvantage with a longer shaft. The disadvantage is in control. You will most likely loose some accuracy with a longer shaft on your golf driver. So the decision must be made, do you give up accuracy to gain distance. It is a tough decision to make and should be an individual decision. My personal view on the matter would always be to keep your accuracy unless your length is really hurting your golf game. I would definitely suggest to experiment with some different length shafts before you would make a purchase. Most golf drivers will come with the Standard length. Some of the golf drivers will come standard with a longer shaft.

ClubHead Material

You have basically 3 choices when it comes to the material in the clubhead of your golf driver. There is the traditional Steel and the newer Titanium and the newest of material the Composite. The traditional steel clubheads are the heavier and with a smaller cleabhead size. Steel clubheads are the cheapest in price. Titanium is a lighter and stronger cludhead resulting in a thinner clubface and producing more clubhead speed and much longer drives than your traditional steel. Some of the major golf driver manufactures are producing clubheads made of a blend of carbon steel and titanium. The biggest difference between the 3 materials is the distance, the sweet spot, and of course the price. Titanium has it all. This definitely is the material everyone should be using. Unfortunately the price is quite a big difference so the price might be the deciding factor. Oh yes you still might find some woods actually made out of Wood.

Clubhead Size

The size of your clubhead can be very Important. If you have a steel clubhead then the size will be smaller. The smaller the clubhead size normally has a smaller sweet spot. This is where Titanium has the advantage over any other material. Titanium is light enough and hard enough to allow the clubface to be bigger and create a larger sweet spot. The larger the sweet spot produces more consistently longer drives. Clubhead size is also a personal preference. I personally don’t care for some of the huge clubheads when hitting a drive.

Clubhead Loft

The loft on the clubface of your golf driver will determine how high you will hit your drives. The lower the loft and the lower the ball flight of your drives. The normal loft of a golf driver is 10.5. This loft is fine for most players. Obviously every player is different and there is no exact rule on what loft everyone should use. Some players hit higher shots than others using the same loft. This is something you must decide for yourself, which loft. The higher the ball flight and usually the shorter the drive. This is not true for everyone but is valid in general. The higher the ball flight does have its own advantage though. The higher the ball flight and usually the straighter the drive. This is caused by less sidespin on your ball with a higher flight. The lower ball flight from a lower lofted club will produce a much more boring shot threw the air and greater distance but the lower ball flight may cause more sidespin on the ball which can produce less accuracy. The lower ball flight should be used by the more experienced players. My suggestion would be to once again experiment and see what is working for you.

Here is some valuable information concerning almost every major golf club manufacturer of a golf driver in the game today. You should now have a better understanding of the golf driver and how each component has an affect on your drives. Now it is time for you to look at the Greatest Golf Drivers being built.
