Illinois Golf Courses : Brown County
Brown County is a community in which old-fashioned values and traditional work ethics are fostered and promoted. There are things to see and do when one visits Brown County, but it is the heart of the community that works together that makes these facilities possible. Much of what has been achieved is through the determined effort of service organizations as well as the United Way of Brown County. Working together with the public, these groups have enriched the community, and it is all possible through the camaraderie of friends and neighbors joining together to make Brown County a better place to live, work and raise a family. Even though Brown County is an agriculturally based community, there are a number of small stores and businesses, six financial institutions and four major employers. The three major non-governmental employers are in a growth phase. In this small agricultural community, the opportunity for employment is diverse, yet none of the facilities is so large that an employee is simply a number. Directors and managers know their employees and are concerned about their welfare and the well being of their families. In Brown County, a visitor could easily spend an afternoon touring the old Wabash Railway Depot Museum. There are displays of not only railroad memorabilia, but military, medical, and antique tool displays. Nearby the Depot Museum is a beautifully restored one-room school building that houses many memories. Other attractions for visitors include community festivals in Mt. Sterling and Versailles, Illinois golf courses, Wolf Ridge Pumpkin Patch, and the Scarecrow Festival which have all become a focus of community activity. Now let’s see the Illinois Golf Courses in Brown County.

Illinois Golf Courses Comments:
This course plays as though the designer had the average golfer in mind. Even though some holes are quite demanding, all skill levels of golfers will not be overwhelmed. The first hole, a 420-yard, par 4, features a sharp, dogleg right fairway with two water hazards coming into play. In addition, water hazards come into play on at least three other holes. This wooded course is located in the country.
