Illinois Golf Courses Clinton County Clinton County was organized in 1824 out of Washington, Fayette, and Bond Counties. Its name is in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. Like most small communities, Clinton hosts a whole year of homegrown events: the Easter Egg Hunt, Illinois golf courses, Maydays Festival, with carnival vendors and major concerts on the square; Fourth of July parade and grand fireworks display tournaments, weekly fishing tournaments; and Christmas parade and community tree-lighting ceremony. The annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival celebrates harvest time in Clinton, held the last weekend of September on the grounds of the C.H. Moore Homestead. Sample mouth-watering apple and pork treats, from pork chili, BBQ ribs and pig ears to apple fritters, taffy apples, cider and, of course, apple pie. There’s also live entertainment, hundreds of crafters, and a flea market with over 300 vendors and 100,000 in attendance. Let’s see the Illinois Golf Courses in Clinton County.

Illinois Golf Courses Comments:
This club has an eighteen hole regulation course and an eighteen hole par 3 course. The Championship Course was designed with the Scottish links-style in mind. Its front nine affords generous landing areas in the fairways, but its back nine has extremely narrow fairways. The large greens are elevated and undulating, and every one is guarded by sand bunkers. In addition, ponds come into play on fourteen holes. The signature hole is 17, a 369-yard, par 4, featuring a covered bridge that crosses over one of the water hazards. Nearby Carlyle Lake is famous for being the largest land-locked lake in the state, attracting 4.5 million visitors each year. The scorecard for the Championship Course doesn't show handicaps for individual holes. The Par 3 Course is a great place for beginners or experienced players to work on their short games.

This is a small semi-private club that is family owned and well maintained. The Carlyle Lake surrounds this very scenic course. The course was built on rolling hills, so expect many uneven lies. Players with a Hale Irwin Discount Book or Golf Card are required to reserve tee time one day in advance.
