Illinois Golf Courses Livingston County Livingston County, located in the northeast quarter of Illinois is about 92 miles southwest of Chicago, midway between Chicago and Springfield. It consists of 1,043 square miles in area and is fourth in size in the state. The County was organized on February 27, 1837, from parts of McLean, LaSalle, and Iroquois counties. The first and only county seat at Pontiac was incorporated in 1856 by an act of the State Legislature. Township Government was adopted in 1858. Pontiac is located on the Vermilion River. Livingston County was named after Edward Livingston, a prominent politician. He was the mayor of New York City, represented New York in the House of Representatives, then represented Louisiana in both houses of Congress. He was Andrew Jackson's Secretary of State, and the United States Minister to France. Although he had no connections to Illinois, the General Assembly found him accomplished enough to name a county after him. Let’s see the Illinois Golf Courses in Livingston County, Illinois.

This quaint nine hole course is unique with its hilly terrain and picturesque bridges. A suspension bridge, resembling the Golden Gate Bridge, is found on hole 1. Hole 9 has a wooden suspension bridge and a stone and log bridge also resides on 9. Water comes into play on seven holes. There is a lake and two creeks that wander through the course. The greens are medium-sized and offer a variety of putting challenges from fairly flat to mounded or hilly. The fairways are open, however, there is an abundance of water providing out-of-bounds areas. The signature hole is 1, a 408-yard, par 4, featuring a dogleg fairway that slopes to the right. A creek crosses in front of the tee area, which runs parallel to the fairway, and then crosses in front of the green.
