Founded in 1821, Bartholomew County is located in the southeastern part of the state with Columbus serving as the county seat. Covering 409 square miles, it lies mostly in the level areas surrounding the East Fork of the White River and its tributaries. The county is intersected by Interstate Highway 65 and U.S. Highway 31 which provides transportation for its commerce along with one rail line that moves millions of tons of freight through the county annually. Agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism make up the majority of the county's economy. When Indiana was admitted to statehood, in 1816, the area which was to become Bartholomew County was in the possession of the Delaware Indians who had relocated to this area, from eastern Ohio, late in the 18th century. Other tribes were located within this region, including the Shawnee , whose prominent members included Tecumseh and the Prophet (Tenskwatawa). The Indians retained title until 1818. Bartholomew County was first created, from ceded Indian lands of the Delaware New Purchase (Delaware County) and Jackson County, by the act of general assembly passed and approved on 9 January 1821. Originally, Bartholomew County included a portion of present-day Brown County, which was not established until 1836. The new county was named in honor of General Joseph Bartholomew, of Clark County, who was prominent in both the military and civil history of Indiana. This course was built on rolling terrain and is very scenic. You may occasionally find a deer grazing on one of the fairways. There are water hazards that come into play on five holes. Many of the course's trees have recently been planted. The tee boxes and undulating greens are elevated. A couple of sand bunkers come into play on the opening two holes.

This scenic course was built in an old country setting. The clubhouse is a 200-year-old log home. The fairways are lined with very old trees and have degrees of undulation. The greens are about medium in size, and there are no sand bunkers. There are three ponds and a creek that come into play on four holes.
