Indiana Golf Courses : Floyd County
Floyd County was formed in 1819. The Indiana State Library says it was named for Gen. John Floyd of Virginia, an officer in the War of 1812. Floyd was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1819. Others say it was named for either early settler Davis Floyd or early settler John Floyd. Located in southern Indiana and nestled along the scenic Ohio River. The Ohio River and the steamboat industry were the foundations of the city’s economy during the mid-19th century. At least a half-dozen shipbuilders turned out scores of packet boats as well as famous steamboats such as the Eclipse, A.A. Shotwell, and Robert E. Lee. Shipbuilding also was accompanied by a wide range of complementary concerns, including machine shops, foundries, cabinet and furniture factories, and silversmith shops. By 1850 New Albany was the largest city in Indiana. Floyd County is home to approximately 70,000 residents. Residents of Floyd County are within ten minutes of the metropolitan Louisville area, enjoying a myriad of cultural, medical and higher education opportunities. Floyd County also has a four-year campus at Indiana University Southeast. Local heritage is rich and Floyd County is a perfect place to call home. Let’s see the Indiana Golf Courses in Floyd County.

Indiana Golf Courses Comments:
This course was built on flat terrain, however there are some hills on the back nine which can cause uneven lies. Water hazards (three lakes and a stream) come into play on seven holes. The fairways are fairly open, but if you hit to errant a tee shot you'll find yourself in trouble. The signature hole is 15, a 209-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over a stream to the green, and featuring out-of-bounds stakes lining the left side of the fairway and trees on the right.
