Indiana Golf Courses Fulton County Fulton County was formed in 1836. It was named for Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat. Prior to white men coming to the area now know as Fulton County the Pottawatomies Indians inhabited the area. The Pottawatomi relinquished their rights to the land in a series of treaties with the general government between 1826 and 1837. By 1839 most of the Indians had left the area. About this time other early settlers moved into the area which would become Rochester. A petition was circulated and signed asking for organization of Fulton County in Indiana. The act was approved on Feb. 7, 1835 and received the approval of the governor on Jan. 23, 1836. The act stated that the citizens would enjoy the rights and jurisdications of a separate county starting April 1, 1836. On the second Monday of June 1836 the commissioners appointed by the legislature examined the proposed sites for a county seat and decided on Rochester. Their report was recorded on July 22, 1836. Us 31 a major north-south artery passes directly through Fulton County. Several interstate highways including I80,I65, I69 and I70 are within easy driving distance. Three large freight companies serve local industry around the clock. Major commercial airports are located in South Bend, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, all within a two hour drive. Fulton County airport, with 5000 feet of paved, lighted runway is available 24 hours a day and has charter and maintenance available. This flat course features wide open fairways and small greens. Local seniors claim they really enjoy walking this course. The signature hole is 5, a 160-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to a triple-tiered green.

Indiana Golf Courses Comments:
This course has one of the most talked about designs in Northern Indiana. The back nine has tighter fairways than the front nine and more water hazards. Even though some of the fairways are hilly, this is still an easy course to walk.
