Indiana Golf Courses : Kosciusko County
Kosciusko is one of the counties in the northern Indiana Lake Region. Kosciusko County was organized between the years of 1835 and 1837, and is named in honor of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish Noble who fought with George Washington in the Revolutionary War. He was born in Warsaw, Poland, thus suggesting the name Warsaw for the county seat. In area, this is one of the largest counties in the state of Indiana, with a total of 541 square miles in its seventeen townships. Kosciusko County is privileged to have a wealth of natural lakes, which provide recreational boating, fishing, and general enjoyment. In the State of Indiana there are 44 major lakes. The county is privileged to have Lake Wawasee, which is the largest natural lake, at approximately 3400 acres, and Lake Tippecanoe, the deepest lake, at approximately 120 feet. In addition to its wonderful natural resources, the county seat, Warsaw, boasts the title of (Orthopedic Manufacturing Capital of the World). The county is also fundamentally an agricultural area, having some of the best soil in the northern part of the state. Portions of its land is underlaid with large deposits of marl. Surrounded by Lake Wawasee, this hilly course is very challenging because of all the water hazards, trees, and sand bunkers incorporated into its design. The signature holes are 1, a 275-yard, par 4, with hills, water and sand bunkers in play, and 8, a 240-yard, par 3, requiring a long tee shot over a creek to the green.

This club has an excellent eighteen hole regulation course, plus a terrific nine hole executive course. The flat Executive Course, which is open to the public, is very easy to walk. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, and numerous trees can alter your shots. The signature hole is 7, a 188-yard, par 4, requiring a well-positioned tee shot up a dogleg left fairway in order to set up a good opportunity for a birdie. The Private Course is closed to the public but does accept reciprocal play. Its signature hole is 17, 197-yard, par 3, which requires a long tee shot over water and provides a panoramic view of the entire course.

This old links-style course is well manicured and has many large, deep sand bunkers. The scenery on this course is highlighted by a beautiful, large spring-fed lake, considered by locals as the largest in the Midwest. This hilly course is tree lined, and teeming with deer and wild geese. There are water hazards that come into play on three holes. Every hole on the course has at least one sand bunker, and some have grass bunkers.
