Located 47 miles northwest of Indianapolis, Montgomery County Indiana is an easy drive on Interstate 74 and less than three hours from Chicago on Interstate 65. A charming yet prosperous community of 15,000, Crawfordsville ranks as 43rd on the roster in The Best 100 Small Towns in America according to author Norman Crampton's 2nd edition of the book. Founded as a town in 1834, Crawfordsville is home to Wabash College, a private, all-male, liberal arts college with an immaculate campus gracing Crawfordsville's west end. The college surely contributed to Crawfordsville's traditional surname, The Athens of Indiana, in recognition of the many notable writers who have resided here. Sports are a big part of Montgomery County life. Most communities have summer baseball and softball leagues for boys and girls. There are also adult softball, baseball and bowling leagues and outdoor-related activities. This wide-open course was built on gently rolling terrain. There are fifty bunkers incorporated into the course design, plus large trees can alter your shots. The signature hole is 3, a 160-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to a (corner) green.

This course was built on rolling terrain, so expect many uneven lies. Water hazards come into play on fifteen holes. Some elevated greens truly afford breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The front nine was designed after World War I as a government project. Later, Gary Kern designed the back nine.

This course has somewhat undulating and narrow greens. Water comes into play on eleven holes. The signature hole is 12, a 393-yard, par 4, which has water surrounding the green on three sides. The course is surrounded by numerous trees, and is very rural and beautiful.

This hilly course was cut out of an extremely wooded area. The forest setting affords many spectacular views. Water hazards come into play on seven holes, plus there are several dogleg fairways. The greens are well bunkered, slightly sloped and elevated.
