Michigan Golf Courses Comments:
This classic old-style course's greens are very small and fast, demanding an artful short game. Since the fairways afford generous landing areas there is plenty of room to hit the ball. However, the fairways are home to a number of bunkers, such as on hole 15, a 459-yard, par 5, which has a large sand bunker sitting on the right edge of a severe dogleg right fairway. Ray Didier was the first to redesign this course in 1961, followed by William Newcomb in 1968. The Michigan Amateur has been held here nearly forty times over the years.

Michigan Golf Courses Comments:
This resort offers two fine eighteen hole courses. Both courses are very scenic and home to an abundance of wildlife. The most challenging course is the Monument Course. There are holes on this course that are dedicated to professional golfers such as Sam Snead, Jim Flick, and others. The narrow fairways are tree lined, and numerous water hazards come into play on many holes. This course features the Yardmark System. A display panel in the golf cart tells the player distances to the greens, how far to carry a hazard, and how far to hit a tee shot. The Alpine Course features fast greens that are often tricky to read. In addition, the plush fairways are tree lined, so shot accuracy off the tees is essential. A spectacular view of Deer Lake can be seen from off this course. Here is one of the many Resort Michigan golf courses.

The club personnel said this is the third oldest course in the U.S. The course is located across from Lake Michigan and provides outstanding scenery for the golfers. The fairways are lined by trees and bordered by a standard cut of rough. There aren't any water hazards on the course, but there are plenty of sand bunkers. This course's most difficult hole is 5, a 355-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a fairly narrow fairway, then an approach shot to a well-bunkered green guarded by a tree situated in the center of the fairway approximately fifty yards in front of the green.

This pleasant course utilized the natural rolling terrain in its design. The undulating greens are medium in size, and the fairways, with the exception of a couple of tree-lined holes, are open. The overall condition of the course is excellent. The fairways are well-watered, which has resulted in their rich green color. Three ponds come into play on three holes.
