Michigan Golf Courses Luce County Luce County is located in the northeastern part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, along the southern shores of Lake Superior. It largely consists of wilderness river country with approximately 40 percent of it classified as freshwater swampland. It has remained largely undeveloped, with a little over half of it contained in the Lake Superior State Forest. Luce County is best known for being the home of Tahquamenon Falls, the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi. The County Seat is Newberry, which contains a variety of resorts, and is a central starting point for fishing, sporting and recreational excursions and Michigan golf courses. Another popular area is the Two Heart River, considered one of Michigan’s premiere Trout streams, which flows into Lake Superior at Two Heart, just east of Muskallonge Lake. Luce County was first developed as a result of the Detroit, Mackinac and Marquette Railroad building a line through here from St. Ignace to Marquette in 1881 for the purpose of transporting lumber. This attracted investor Truman Newberry, who built the Vulcan Furnace Company in the town which was named after him. The county was named after one of Michigan’s governors, Cyrus Luce, who served from 1887 to 1890. Let’s see the Michigan golf courses in Luce County, Michigan.

Michigan Golf Courses Comments:
This course was renovated and reopened in 1999 as an eighteen hole course. The hilly design which is common for Michigan golf courses has some tree-lined fairways. In addition, the golfer will encounter some blind tee shots. There are several short par 3's, with yardage being as short as 150 yards. There are a few elevated greens and others are well bunkered. Two ponds come into play on two holes.
