Named in honor of Alexander Hamilton, this county was formed from Montgomery on 12 Feb 1816; but its independent organization was not completed until it achieved its mandated population of 1288 taxable inhabitants qualified to vote. On 1 Jan 1838 it was partially organized and detached from Montgomery county and by 1847 it was fully organized. The county occupies the central portions of the Adirondacks and within its 1745 square miles of mountainous land is located some 77 lakes. The county seat was located in the village of Sageville, which is now a part of the village of Lake Pleasant. It is currently comprised of the following townships: Arietta, Benson, Hope, Indian Lake, Inlet, Lake Pleasant, Long Lake, Morehouse, and Wells. At one time there was also a town of Gilman, which was formed 23 Apr 1839 with land primarily taken from Wells and Lake Pleasant and it was abolished 6 Apr 1860. This hilly course has wide open fairways and small greens. There is a river that flows throughout the course which comes into play on a few holes. This is an excellent place for beginners to take up the game or for experience golfers who enjoy a brisk walk. The ladies' tee does not have a course rating.

This is a picturesque course because of all the red, white, and black sand bunkers dotting the scenic landscape. The tree-lined fairways are wide open, and the greens are medium-sized. A creek meanders through the middle of the course and several ponds have been created by enlarging and damming the creek.

This well-maintained course is nestled in the scenic mountain countryside. The fairways are wide open, and the small greens are medium speed. There is a pond in play on hole 1, but no water hazards thereafter. This is a great course to walk.

This course, nestled in the middle of the Adirondack Park, is surrounded by mountains. This is a place where golfing and nature blend to make a serene paradise. The fairways are relaxing to walk down, but are challenging to play, and the greens are well manicured. The course frequently requires shots over a mountain brook. An added bonus is the wildlife that frequently roam the course.
