New York Golf Courses : Kings County
Brooklyn was one of the original six towns of Kings County, when the county/town system was established in 1683. It was included as a borough of New York in1869.It is coextensive with Kings County and situated at the southwestern end of Long Island. It nestles within the borough of Queens on the north and east and is surrounded by water on the other sides. Brooklyn is both an important industrial center, with extensive deepwater harbor facilities, and a densely populated residential area, the most populous borough of New York City. The first European settlement of the area took place in 1636, when Dutch farmers purchased tracts of land near Gowanus Bay and founded the community of Amersfort (present-day Flatlands). In 1646 a settlement not far from the site of Borough Hall was patented and named Breucklen (Dutch for marshland) after a town in Holland. Other settlements followed, including Gravesend, Flatbush (originally Midwout), New Utrecht and Bushwick (originally Boswyck). It is difficult to choose from the wonderful eateries of Brooklyn. Eating at Ginger Root Cafe is a must when visiting Prospect Heights. The pan cultural cuisine with a Caribbean flair makes for a satisfying and savory meal. Terrace Bagels is Brooklyn's premier bagel haven in Windsor Terrace. The homemade bagels are renowned throughout New York. Mancora Peruvian Cuisine is another delicious find on Smith Street. Go for the lunch special: for less than ten bucks you get a fantastic meal with enough leftover to take home. Pizzerias like Totonno's and Grimaldi's are legendary for the wood oven home made pizzas. If desserts are your thing, then head to Junior's near the Fulton Street Mall for the best cheesecake ever. There are even a few New York golf courses in the county. There are dozens of varieties to choose from and each is to die for. After you are sated walk the Brooklyn Bridge for a unique view of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines. New York Golf Courses Comments:
This inner-city course is considered to be the best-conditioned in the city, which is amazing considering the 80,000 rounds that are played on it annually. The burnt out automobile bodies that used to confront golfers on several fairways are now absent. The wide-open layout has a nice mix of holes, including several dogleg fairways. Visual appeal comes in the way of the fairways' many trees and, on the back nine, some striking views of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, one of the world's largest suspension bridges.

New York Golf Courses Comments:
Some of the fairways on this relatively flat course are dogleg configurations, while others are somewhat tree lined. According to locals, the large and undulating greens are the finest in the city. Water comes into play on 9, a 420-yard par 4. A large pond guards the entire left side of this fairway.
