This scenic course is situated in the countryside. The fairways are wide and tree lined, and the terrain varies between flat and hilly. Water hazards come into play on many holes. The club offers a weekday special; two golfers with cart included at a discounted price.

Every hole on the course has its own unique characteristic. There are several short par 4's that require perfect shot placements on their fairways for easy approach shots. Overall, the fairways vary in width, and the medium-sized greens are fast. Streams and ponds come into play on five holes.

This course has tree-lined fairways that are narrow. The greens are fast and sloped. The entire course is well maintained. There are a couple of ponds and some water-filled ditches (depending on the weather) coming into play on a number of holes.

This course, which is part of Colgate University, has fairways that are fairly open and easy to walk. Water hazards (some ditches, four ponds, and a creek) come into play on twelve holes. The original plans for the course were drawn up by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in the 1930's, set aside by the University, and then implemented in 1957 when the front nine was first opened. The back nine was designed after Jones' earlier plans and was opened in 1968. The fairways at this course are actually a mix of Ben and Poa Annua grasses.

This course has some pine trees lining its fairways. The fairways are in excellent condition, and only two ponds come into play on one hole. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.

New York Golf Courses Comments:
Located just off the New York State Thruway 30 miles east of Syracuse is Turning Stone Casino Resort. Owned and operated by the Oneida Nation, Turning Stone boasts two 9-hole courses: Pleasant Knolls and Sandstone Hollow, and the latest addition, the 18-hole Shenandoah Golf Club, which opened for play in June of 2000. Designed by Rick Smith, Shenadoah is a par 72 course and measures 7,129 yards from the back tees. Sandstone hollow is a 9-hole par 3 course that rolls through wooded terrain and wetland areas. Pleasant Knolls is a 9-hole par 36 course with fast greens and natural rolling terrain. The resort also features The Golf Academy at Turning Stone, a 15-acre short game area, and two practice putting greens. In 2003, an additional 18-hole course, Kaluhyat Golf Club (located at 5718 PAtrick Rd, Verona, NY) was added to the stable of courses at Turning Stone.

This park has a single fee to use its golf course, conference center, tennis courts and other amenities. The rolling par 3 course has a few trees, and the greens are mostly flat. Hole 9, a 140-yard, par 3, features a lake sitting behind the green, so be careful not to over club your tee shot.

New York Golf Courses Comments:
This course was built atop rolling hills. It has a combination of wide and narrow fairways, and the rough is generally cut relatively short. Some of the fairways are lined with hickory, oak, and maple trees which can measure as high as seventy feet. Water hazards (ponds and creeks) come into play on seven holes. There are only a few elevated tees, yet many holes offer exceptional views of Lake Oneida, the largest lake within the State of New York.
