New York Golf Courses Nassau County Theodore Roosevelt, who owned a house on Sagamore Hill at Oyster Bay, waxed eloquent about the joys of living in Nassau County. (There could be no healthier place to bring children up) he wrote. This truth is affirmed even today by the 1.5 million people who have made Nassau County their home. Despite growth the quality of life enjoyed is unchanged. With the success of the Long Island Rail Road bringing people from Nassau County to Pennsylvania Station in the heart of Manhattan, the population swelled with commuters, leaping from 55,000 in 1900 to 300,000 in 1930. Towns along the south shore rail road tracks like Port Washington, Rockville Centre and Freeport experienced rapid growth. Real estate development created a unique suburban county. People were attracted to the lovely seaside towns and New York golf courses and waterfront communities like Sea Cliff blossomed. The secluded wooded North Shore attracted prominent New Yorkers to build vacation homes. The farmlands on the North Shore became the site of luxurious country estates. The Long Island (Gold Coast) across the north shore of Nassau has left a legacy of elegance, open space, and spectacular architecture still evident today. Let’s see all the Great New York golf courses in Nassau County.

Holes 13, 14, and 15 combine challenging golf with beautiful vistas to create a unique golfing experience. The 176 yard-par 3 14th, the signature hole of the course, requires a tee shot that will carry over a ravine and sand traps to a small, rolling green.
