Ontario County, located about 75 miles east of Niagara Falls in the heart of the region, is home to five of the eleven Finger Lakes. Among them are two of the largest, Seneca and Canandaigua. Ontario Country has an extensive history. Once called the (Mother of Counties), Ontario County was the first and largest settlement in western New York dating back to 1789. Its earliest and most enduring legacy is traced back to the Native Americans. Their ancient beliefs and tribal customs influenced much of the area's modern day culture. As the inhabitants changed, so did the look of Ontario Country. The wealth of graceful and dignified buildings in the area is testament to a past as prosperous and as full as the present. Many of these historical and architectural treasures have been restored to their original state and opened to the public as museums.
In addition to the numerous landmarks, one of the most preserved assets in Ontario Country continues to be its living splendor. Local farmers are blessed with a land as rich as its history. Innovative research facilities and fertile growing conditions help produce an abundance of native agricultural products, which contribute to the region's hands-on tourism experience. Touted as one of state's brightest prospects in terms of population growth and corporate expansion, Ontario Country also has a number of other resources that affect its quality of life. They are a reflection of the natural wealth found in the Finger Lakes and serve as a link to its future prosperity. This course opened a new nine holes in 1997, which were designed by Bob Tallman, and now offers a regulation eighteen hole layout. The design is highlighted by a pond on hole 5, where fishing is allowed. About 2,000 trees have been recently planted by the course personnel. There are sand bunkers protecting the greens, and the fairways are mostly flat and narrow.

This traditional course has many small, elevated greens. The fairways are narrow and protected by numerous sand bunkers. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on at least six holes. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.

Due to the way this course was designed, with a large portion of the holes playing into a prevailing wind, it plays longer than the yardage indicates. The condition of the greens is excellent, and water hazards (two ponds) come into play on four holes, including 11, a 178-yard, par 3, requiring a carry over a body of water.

This course offers a view of the lake from anywhere on its grounds. The greens are small, but the fairways are fairly open. The course is irrigated to keep it plush and soft. You should not have a problem with the drainage creek that comes into play on two holes.

This traditionally-styled course is generally open, with several elevated tees throughout. The medium-sized greens (averaging 6,200 square feet) are predominantly flat and fast. Water comes into play on six holes. The course plays from 4,938 to 7,003-yards and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.

Located in the Naples valley, Reservoir Creek Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole course with rolling fairways and medium-sized greens, averaging 4,000 square feet each. This scenic course is located across from Seneca Lake. There are many sand bunkers coming into play throughout this entire course. The signature hole is 6, a 163-yard, par 3, because it's located on top of a hill.

This course is located on the hospital grounds. Only in-patients, out-patients, visiting relatives, employees, and guests of employees are allowed to play this course. The main purpose behind building this course was for rehabilitating hospital patients. There are no water hazards or sand bunkers, but each of the greens are elevated.

This golf complex offers three regulation eighteen hole courses and a nine hole course. The South Course has fairways that are flat and narrow The North Course has rolling terrain and elevated tees. The Executive Course is mostly flat. Water hazards come into play on all three courses. The North Course has water hazards on seven holes, and the South Course has water hazards on eight holes.

This course has tree-lined fairways and many elevation changes. The greens are elevated and two-tiered. There are three ponds that come into play on six holes. The Finger Lake Golf Assoc. has rated two holes from this course as two of the best holes in the local area.
