Ontario Country has an extensive history. Once called the (Mother of Counties), Ontario County was the first and largest settlement in western New York dating back to 1789. Its earliest and most enduring legacy is traced back to the Native Americans. Their ancient beliefs and tribal customs influenced much of the area's modern day culture. As the inhabitants changed, so did the look of Ontario Country. The wealth of graceful and dignified buildings in the area is testament to a past as prosperous and as full as the present. Many of these historical and architectural treasures have been restored to their original state and opened to the public as museums.

This course opened a new nine holes in 1997, which were designed by Bob Tallman, and now offers a regulation eighteen hole layout. The design is highlighted by a pond on hole 5, where fishing is allowed. About 2,000 trees have been recently planted by the course personnel. There are sand bunkers protecting the greens, and the fairways are mostly flat and narrow.

Due to the way this course was designed, with a large portion of the holes playing into a prevailing wind, it plays longer than the yardage indicates. The condition of the greens is excellent, and water hazards (two ponds) come into play on four holes, including 11, a 178-yard, par 3, requiring a carry over a body of water.

This traditionally-styled course is generally open, with several elevated tees throughout. The medium-sized greens (averaging 6,200 square feet) are predominantly flat and fast. This course is located on the hospital grounds. Only in-patients, out-patients, visiting relatives, employees, and guests of employees are allowed to play this course. The main purpose behind building this course was for rehabilitating hospital patients. There are no water hazards or sand bunkers, but each of the greens are elevated.

This golf complex offers three regulation eighteen hole courses and a nine hole course. The South Course has fairways that are flat and narrow The North Course has rolling terrain and elevated tees. The Executive Course is mostly flat. Water hazards come into play on all three courses. The North Course has water hazards on seven holes, and the South Course has water hazards on eight holes.

This course has tree-lined fairways and many elevation changes. The greens are elevated and two-tiered. There are three ponds that come into play on six holes. The Finger Lake Golf Assoc. has rated two holes from this course as two of the best holes in the local area.
