This club has been listed by the USGA as being one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. GOLF Magazine also gave it recognition in their 1995 list of The First 100 Clubs in America. Water hazards come into play on four holes. The course has been redesigned and renovated by several architects over the years, the latest by George and Tom Fazio in 1977. This is a very exclusive men's club. The course was built on flat terrain. The fairways are wide open, and the greens are fast and true. There are plenty of sand bunkers throughout the course, but only one water hazard. Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Silva redesigned the course in the 1960's, followed by Stephen Kay, who redesigned one hole in 1989. There is no ladies' tee.

This hilltop course, which opened in June, 1996, overlooks the Hudson River, as well as New York City on a clear day. The course has rolling, tree-lined fairways extensively bordered with fescue. The greens are quite fast and have subtle breaks. Wetlands come into play on six holes. The most difficult hole is 16, a long 249-yard, par 3, with the tee box stacked up on a hillside overlooking the Hudson River. Rockefeller, Jr. This course is the only reversible eighteen hole course in the State of New York, because it can be played both forward and backward. This old, traditional course is very hilly and can be strenuous to walk. The fairways are narrow and bordered by thick rough, and the small greens are well bunkered. There are ponds and streams coming into play on ten holes.

This club has two Tillinghast courses, both demanding powerful, yet accurate golf. The West course has hosted numerous USGA events and is known as the championship course. Its fairways are narrow, rough is deep, and the greens are highly contoured. It is not only important to hit most of your tee shots long, but as straight as humanly possible. Players will make use of their middle irons more frequently than normal. They will also need to do some creative work around the greens. Water does not come into play on the West Course.

This well-maintained course features narrow fairways and a variety of different-shaped greens that are fast. The terrain is rolling, and water hazards come into play on some holes. Additionally, the course is well guarded by sand bunkers.
