Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This course has medium-sized fairways with rolling, contoured hills. The greens are large, fast and tiered. The course personnel stated that the design of the course requires accuracy on all shots. At one time this was one of the many Ohio golf courses that was quite rural, but now there are many new developments in the area, including hotels, homes, and malls.

Holes: 18

Rating: 74.7
Slope: 139

Season: March 1 thru December 31

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This is a typical Jack Nicklaus course, which he as many of the Ohio golf courses. Most of the fairways afford generous landing areas, but some are tree lined. The large greens are extremely fast and easy to three putt. Deep sand bunkers have been positioned on the fairways and around the greens. In addition, water hazards (lakes) come into play on eight holes. The most difficult hole is 8, a 495-yard, par 5, featuring a water hazard looming on the right side of the fairway and requiring an approach shot to a small green. The most scenic hole is 18, a 436-yard, par 4, featuring natural wetlands on the right side of the fairway and playing up to an elevated green by the clubhouse that offers spectacular views of the entire course.

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
The length of this course alone will challenge any level of golfer. The tree-lined fairways were built on rolling hills, like so many of the Ohio golf courses and have some sand bunkers. Water hazards come into play on several holes. The greens are large and have medium speed.

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This course was built on rolling terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies. The large greens are fairly undulating and medium speed, and the tree-lined fairways are bordered by a multiple cut of rough.

Holes: 18
Par: 72
Rating: 71.7
Slope: 128
Status: Military
Season: Open all year

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This course is highlighted by a few sloped fairways, but basically the terrain is flat. In addition, water hazards come into play on six holes. Numerous sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design, placing a premium on shot accuracy. The club annually plays host to the Southern Ohio PGA. Larry Packard redesigned the course in 1958, followed by Jack Kidwell, who redesigned four holes in 1971.

Walnut Grove Country Club

Address:
5050 Linden Ave

Holes: 18
Par: 72
Rating: 72.7
Slope: 131
Status: Private
Season: April 1 thru October 31

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This club was originally named Greenmont because it straddles the Greene and Montgomery county lines. This course plays longer than the yardage indicates because of the soft fairways. The hard-to-read greens are loaded with subtle breaks. Water hazards (man-made lakes) come into play at least two times. One of the nicer of the so many private Ohio golf courses.

WGC Golf Course

Address:
944 Country Club Dr
Xenia, OH 45385

Phone: 937-372-1202
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Rating: 70.2
Slope: 117
Status: Public
Season: Open all year

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This course was built on rolling terrain, so you can expect some uneven lies. The back nine has narrower and more wooded fairways than the front nine. The front nine has water coming into play on two holes. Jack Kidwell and Michael Hurdzan designed the back nine, which opened in 1982.

Wright-Patterson Golf Club

Address:
4690 Skeel Ave
Wright Patterson Afb, OH 45433

Phone: 937-879-5311
Holes: 27
Par: 70
Rating: 66.3
Slope: 118
Status: Military
Season: April 1 thru October 31

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This club has an eighteen hole regulation course and a nine hole course. The West Course was built on flat terrain and features very small greens. There is water that comes into play on four holes. The East Course, an executive design, is excellent for improving your short game. A water hazard sits to the left of the green on hole 7, a 521-yard, par 5. Not too many military Ohio golf courses are available.
