Ohio Golf Courses Mahoning County Mahoning County was formed in February 1846, from Columbiana and Trumbull Counties. The two upper tiers of townships, taken from Trumbull County, include: Austintown, Berlin, Boardman, Canfield, Coitsville, Ellsworth, Jackson, Milton, Poland and Youngstown. Each is five miles square and was surveyed and sold as part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. The lower tier of townships, taken from Columbiana County, includes: Beaver, Goshen, Green, Smith and Springfield. Each is six miles square and were surveyed as the Congress Lands Northeast by the federal government and sold through the Steubenville Land Office. Over the last two hundred years, the families who immigrated to this area brought with them their rich ethnic backgrounds and a spirit of deep determination. Out of that they built a community that reflected a reverence for their heritage and a profound hope for their future. Beautiful landmarks like the Butler Institute of American Art, Powers Auditorium, the Mahoning County Courthouse, Stambaugh Auditorium, great Ohio golf courses, and a multitude of magnificent churches are just a few examples of what resulted from their architectural labors of love. The beloved jewel of our community is the 2,600 acre Mill Creek Park, serviced by 30 miles of paved roads. Within its boundaries are two 18 hole championship golf courses, three lakes, a working grist mill, Fellows Riverside Gardens, Morley Entertainment Pavilion, the Silver Suspension Bridge, and many miles of walking and running trails. Yes, now its time to see all the Ohio golf courses in Mahoning County.
