This facility has two regulation eighteen hole Ohio golf courses. These two courses are referred to as the outside course (the Hills Course) and the inside course (the Dales Course). The fairways are moderately narrow because of the numerous mature trees originally planted around the turn of the century. Ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men on both courses.

This traditional course, designed by Donald Ross, was built on very hilly terrain like so many Ohio golf courses, so you can expect some uneven lies. The narrow, tree-lined fairways place a premium on straight tee shots. Water hazards come into play on eleven holes. The well-bunkered greens are large, undulating and very fast.

This facility has an eighteen hole regulation course, plus a nine hole short course. The majority of the Regulation Course is open. The course is home of the Buy.com Dayton Open. The dogleg fairways were designed to play from left to right. The greens are large, and water hazards come into play on several holes, depending on which tee boxes are used. The most outstanding features on the course are its greens. This is one of the best Ohio golf courses in Montgomery County.

This predominantly flat executive course features wide fairways. However, the fairways are bordered by a standard cut of rough. There are no sand bunkers on the course, but water hazards come into play on four holes. Beware of the hidden lake on hole 2, it cannot be seen from the tee box. This course was built on rolling terrain which is so normal for Ohio golf courses. Either a creek or a lake comes into play on ten holes. A good birdie opportunity is available on hole 6, a 480-yard, par 5, which calls for a tee shot to land between two small trees to get a short approach to the green.

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This facility offers two regulation eighteen hole courses and an executive eighteen hole course. These are three of the six municipal courses in the Dayton area. Tee times are only reserved for weekends on the prior Tuesday beginning at noon. All the courses were built on flat terrain and are easy to walk. Because there are only a scattering of trees that can affect your shots, the fairways are basically wide open. Theses Ohio golf courses have many similarities, including large greens, sand bunkers and man-made lagoons. The only difference between the Hawk Course and the Eagle Course is that the Eagle Course is 400 yards longer. Water hazards come into play on three holes on the Kitty Executive Course, on fourteen holes on the Hawk Course and on sixteen holes on the Eagle Course.

Fully irrigated, meticulously maintained and aesthetically bunkered with large beautifully manicured bent greens. Practice facilities include a full length driving range, large practice green and two chipping greens. Always, (high and dry), and with superb greens, this is again one of the many Ohio golf courses that is always open for play.

This municipal course was built on hilly terrain and features tree-lined fairways. Water hazards come into play on eight holes, including the first, a 444-yard, par 5, which calls for an approach shot over a creek to a green protected by a sand bunker in front. The greens are average-sized and medium to fast in speed. This is another of the many Ohio golf courses that try to stay open all year.

This club features a long design with plenty of natural vegetation. The fairways are consistently wide open, however, the greens vary in size and undulation. Water comes into play on twelve holes, including 17, a 164-yard, par 3. From the elevated tee, this hole plays over a lake to a well-bunkered green. This is another of the many Ohio golf courses that try to stay open all year.

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This course borders the Indian Mound Burial Ground, a state historical park. This terrain is hilly like so many of Ohio golf courses, so be prepared for some uneven lies in the fairways. Furthermore, the small greens are elevated and difficult to hit in regulation. Any ball hit on a green in regulation will give you a realistic chance at making a birdie.

Ohio Golf Courses Comments:
This club has two excellent courses. The South Course is the championship course, and the PGA played here in 1969 and LPGA in 1986. The South Course has narrow, tree-lined fairways and greens that are well-bunkered. The signature hole is 10, a par 5, which is quite picturesque. Golf Digest rated this course 73rd best out of Americas 100 Greatest Courses for 1995-96, and 80th best for 1997-98. The publication also named it the 6th Best in State of Ohio golf courses for 1995-96, and 8th best for 1997-98. In addition, GOLFWEEK rated it 50th among Americas 100 Best Classical Courses for 1997, 66th for 1998 and 56th for 1999. The North Course has more open and forgiving fairways than the South Course. The greens are medium-sized and not as fast as the South Course greens. The terrain is rolling, so you can still expect many uneven lies. The South Course is open from April to October, and the North Course is open year-round.
