TaylorMade Golf Products and Information !!!

TaylorMade Golf, one of the largest golf club manufacturers in the world, is a subsidiary of adidas-Salomon A.G. When TaylorMade, Salomon and adidas joined force in 1998 it brought together some of the most innovative companies in their fields. The adidas Group is one of the worlds largest producers of sports clothing and shoes with sales topping six billion dollars each year. Across the planet, the adidas name is synonymous with soccer, as well as high performance footwear for a vast variety of sports, including golf. Salomon is known as the worldwide leader in skiing and snowboarding. They are the largest producer of boots, bindings and boards, and they are also a leader in outdoor footwear. At TaylorMade, they are proud to be part of such a large and successful family of sporting goods products. The worldwide resources that come as part of this association are sure to help as we continue to grow.
In the spring of 1979 Gary Adams took out a $24,000 loan on his home and founded the TaylorMade Golf Company. He rented a 6,000 square foot building that at one time housed a television assembly plant. Counting him there were three employees and a single, innovative product: a 12-degree driver cast of stainless steel. It looked and sounded different from a wooden wood, and most important, the metalwood performed differently. The clubheads perimeter-weighting offered greater forgiveness on mis-hits while the lower center of gravity made it easier to get the ball in the air. Yet the clubheads shape leaned toward traditional, Adams, the son of a golf professional, was adamant that TaylorMade Golf clubs maintain ties to what true golfers perceived an authentic golf club should look and feel like. Besides the commitment to combine innovation with authenticity, the company also pledged to be competitive, to work hard to establish itself and grow. These three tenets would take them far: During the last 25 years, TaylorMade Golf has been the most-played brand of metalwood in America.
Adams objective to put a TaylorMade golf driver in the hands of world class players quickly became real, at the 1979 MONY Tournament of Champions, tour professionals Ron Streck and Jim Simons put a TaylorMade golf metalwood into play for the first time on the PGA Tour. At the annual PGA Merchandise Show that year metalwood orders totaled $47,000. TaylorMade Golf had gained a substantial foothold.
In keeping with Adams vision that TaylorMade Golf would one day offer a complete line of golf equipment, the product line expanded within two years to include fairway woods and irons. Meanwhile TaylorMade golf metalwoods, which now bore the nickname Pittsburgh Persimmon on the toe, were winning golfers over everywhere.
Just two years after the company opened its doors, Streck won the 1981 Houston Open, a year later Simons won the prestigious Bing Crosby National Pro-Am. Both victories furthered TaylorMades ambition to wed innovation with tour validation. Sales jumped from $1.2 million in 1981 to $12 million in 1982. TaylorMade Golf was moving onward and upward, and the years following witnessed a continued commitment to innovation in golf equipment as well as many more tour victories.
The parade of TaylorMade Golf products that followed the original metalwood have achieved legendary status in the world of golf equipment; clubs like the Burner, Tour Burner, Tour Preferred, Raylor and Burner Bubble. The common thread among these products, besides the fact that all are metal woods, is that their development was driven by TaylorMades desire to create authentic, yet ever more innovative products that delivered superior performance to golfers of all types.
As TaylorMade Golf prospered, the finest players in the world followed, helping the brand to earn its well-known reputation for tour dominance. During the past 25 years hundreds of professional golfers have played with and won with TaylorMade Golf equipment. TaylorMade drivers have been used to win every Major Championship, as well as hundreds of additional professional tournaments around the globe. The first metalwood to win the Masters was a TaylorMade Golf, a Burner Bubble prototype in 1994. TaylorMade drivers have ranked No. 1 on the PGA Tour multiple years since 1979; in 2001 TaylorMade took over as the No. 1 driver on the PGA Tour and has held that title ever since. Up to and including the 2004 Wachovia Championship TaylorMade Golf drivers have ranked No. 1 at 128 consecutive PGA Tour events. Since 1979 the most-played driver on the PGA Tour is TaylorMade Golf. Since 1979, more than 36,000 TaylorMade drivers have been put into play on the PGA Tour. The second-place brand trails by more than 17,000.
Today TaylorMade Golf, which started with three employees and a single product, employs more than a thousand people around the globe. The company is recognized as the leader in golf equipment innovation with such products as the r7 quad driver, R500 Series drivers, V Steel fairway woods, rac irons and wedges, Rossa CGB putters, Maxfli Revolution EXT golf balls, and adidas Golf Z Traxion footwear and ClimaLite apparel. TaylorMades Tour Staff, which began with two players, now includes more than 120 touring professionals from around the world. The original commitment to innovation, authenticity and competitiveness has served the company well for 25 years, and should continue to carry us through the next 25 years, and beyond.
It has been a fantastic journey, says Mark King, CEO and president, who joined the company as a 21-year-old sales rep in 1981. Through 25 years we have achieved many great successes, and they have all been driven by two things. Number one, our commitment to innovation, authenticity and competition, the very same things that Gary Adams committed to when he founded the company. Number two, the quality of our people. TaylorMade Golf employees are over-achievers, and the best there is at developing, manufacturing, marketing and selling golf equipment.
Today I feel the same kind of enthusiasm and excitement in the halls of TaylorMade Golf as existed when I started with the company in 1981, when our metalwood was taking the golf world by storm, added King. We are expecting similar big things from our new r7 quad driver, with its TaylorMade Launch Control technology. It is the kind of innovative, high-performance golf club that TaylorMade Golf has focused on producing since the company was started.
