Rockingham County is a prosperous community located in the center of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Rockingham County is located in the center of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains on the east and the Alleghenies on the west, it is almost equally distant from Washington, DC (124 miles northeast), Richmond (116 miles southeast) and Roanoke (111 miles south). Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club features a championship eighteen hole course designed by architect Russell Breeden. Located in the Shenandoah Valley, this course opened for play in August, 2002 and features a mix of parkland and links style holes. The lush, rolling, tree lined fairways play through some dramatic elevation changes, and beautiful views of the surrounding hill country can be had form the many raised tees. The medium sized greens are generally fast, and several are multi-tiered which brings an added level of challenge to this course. Water comes into play on several holes in the form of numerous creeks and ponds, and there are plenty of strategically placed bunkers throughout the layout.
